CUNY Research Scholar of Energy Institute and Mechanical Engineering
He is a CUNY Research Scholar of Energy Institute and Mechanical Engineering. Serdar E.Erturan is the founder of Greenway CSP as well as the chief engineer and architect behind all GREENWAY’s CSP tower technology and realization of 5MWt /1MWe CSP Tower Plant in Mersin, Turkey.
The technology developed is complex and has an integrated structure consisting of: Heliostat field and controls , hot side receiver with relevant water systems, electrical island, turbine and generator, turbine governing systems and overall Plant Management Software integrations.
Serdar E.Erturan has 28 years of experience in large scale, international R&D, design, test and production projects. He has great experience in the field of designing complex military projects, production tests, installation processes and he has more than 15 years of experience in solar energy sector. He worked on heat transfer, energy production and efficiency, carried out various engineering studies to control these processes and to improve process development and increase in efficiency. As of 2009, Serdar E.Erturan is a partner at Greenway CSP responsible for engineering, operation, research and development. He has his own Heliostat and Receiver designs developed for Thermal Power Plant Projects and had a major role in development of the technology used in Concentrated Solar Power Tower Plant completed at Mersin.
In 2014, he was awarded the honor of “Best Large Scale Technology Development” for its own Concentrated Solar Power Tower technology. Technology Award is Turkey’s most prestigious Technology Award presented by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV) and Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD).
Prior to establishing GREENWAY CSP in 2009, Mr.Erturan worked for CARADON UK & TERMO TEKNIK TURKEY (January 2003 – November 2009) as General Manager & Head of Solar R&D; E&A PARTNERS, Germany (1995 – 2001) as the founder/partner in engineering design and services and FMC San Francisco, USA (1987 – 1994) as a R&D Engineer in military combat vehicle manufacturing. A Turkish-American dual citizen, he was born in Giresun, Turkey in 1961. He earned a BSc degree in mechanical engineering from the Columbia University NY, USA.
